Program Description:

The four-year B.Tech Programme is designed in such a way that, a graduate of this programme can be absorbed very easily in the Chemical Engineering core industry or he/she can go for higher studies such as M.Tech / MS in Chemical Engineering, MS in Pharmacy or MS in IT. It is also kept in the mind while designing the course the wide spread and the expanding Pharmaceutical industry, nine courses related to Pharmaceutical industry are incorporated, so that a graduate of this programme can be immediately absorbed by Pharmaceutical industry.
Chemical Engineering involves the design and maintenance of chemical plants and the development of chemical processes for converting raw materials or chemicals into valuable products. It combines knowledge of Chemistry and Engineering for the production of chemicals and related by-products. This branch of engineering is a varied field, covering areas of Biotechnology, Nano-Technology Mineral Processing, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Synthetic fibers, Petroleum Refining etc. Chemical Engineers design and operate chemical plants and improve methods of production.
The work of Chemical Engineers, the most versatile of all engineers, involves the invention, development, design, operation and management of processes in process industries. So they combine the work of several fields such as those of chemists, industrial engineers, materials engineers as well as electrical engineers. Chemical engineers are responsible for the availability of modern high-quality materials that are essential for running an industrial economy.

Professional Outcomes:

Apply information and knowledge to demonstrate solutions to basic science and engineering.

Utilize the full range of chemical engineering techniques to design at least one manufacturing facility or perform a comprehensive analysis for a scenario with significant application of chemical engineering principles.

Demonstrate experimental skills that test science and engineering principles learned in the classroom, including the design of experiments.

Demonstrate skills that reflect the broader professional qualities necessary for success in their careers, including ethics and professional responsibilities, oral communications, and activities in team structures.

Work Experience,Internships and Research:

Creativity, collaboration, and innovation are characteristics emphasized and nurtured in the Vignan’s School of Chemical Engineering. While analysis is at the core of undergraduate instruction, creativity and synthesis are key aspects of the graduate experience. Practical solutions to technological problems require the creative synthesis of often disparate ideas and approaches.
At Vignan’s School of Chemical Engineering, graduate research often results in the development of innovative and patentable ideas, leading to new technologies and, sometimes, new companies. Faculty members in the School have strong interactions with industry, including consulting, sponsored research, and/or advisory board activities. Opportunities continue to arise to use your technical and entrepreneurial abilities to create new solutions to societal problems.

Combined Degrees:

An opportunity is also provided in the curriculum to a student to adopt himself/herself in the IT sector by means of number of IT related courses. It is believed that a proper orientation towards management programmes leads to self-discipline and motivation towards career, hence a variety of management programmes are also incorporated in the curriculum. This enables the graduate of this programme to get admission into MBA programme.
