Thermal engineering laboratory is one of the important laboratories in mechanical engineering stream. This lab gives real hands off experience on the performance of 2 stroke and 4 stroke diesel and petrol engines. It also provides the basics of Refrigeration and air conditioning.  Fluid Mechanics Lab



Fluid mechanics lab is the conventional core lab for the mechanical, civil and chemical engineering students. The basic principles of fluid mechanics are studied in the second year course of engineering. "TheFlow Pattern and Losses in the Flow Process" are evaluated in this laboratory using various equipment. Bernoulli’s and Reynold’s equations are the prime equations in the field of fluid mechanics. Several software packages are used in CAD Lab to create such drawings, wire frame modeling, surface modeling and solid modeling using computers. Production equipment with computer numerical control is a major component of CIM. For manufacturing a component, the CAD/CAM process generates a program, which can run on the CNC machine. Quality of fuel and lubricant is very essential for the smooth running of the engine and efficiency of the engine under various conditions. Viscosity, flash and fire points are some of the characteristics which are essential for a good lubricant. Evaluation of these parameters for various lubricants are estimated in this laboratory. Calorific value and carbon residue are the other two important parameters for the fuel. These are evaluated using Bomb calorimeter and carbon residue apparatus.
